My salt water experience
REMEMBER WHEN
When I was in the Navy I saw some really nice sights. One of which was in Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles about 38 miles from the northern tip of South America.
I had gone snorkeling with some of the guys from my ship and we were in some pristine water. It was so clear there was no end to how deep or how far you could see until you got into the really deep water. I dove on a coral rock that I found interesting and saw something I thought was a fish on top of it.
I surfaced and got another breath of air and dove again. I got to where my face mask was about an arm’s length from the rock and I could swear that I saw the outline of a fish. After surfacing again I pulled my dive knife and went back down. This time I swam right up to the rock and laid the blade of my knife on top of it.
Well, all of a sudden this thing took off and jumped me so bad that I must have tried to swallow half of the Caribbean Sea.
I found out later that it was indeed a fish of the chameleon fish species that can make their body to shape and color of their surroundings. Now when I see a film of divers or snorkelers I sit back, smile and Remember When.
