Duncan updates local Rotarians on AHOC
MARS HILL NEWS
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met May 3, 2016 and the guest speaker was Rick Duncan, who provided an update on the Aroostook House of Comfort, located at 18 Green Hill Drive in Presque Isle.
The House of Comfort will serve all of Aroostook County as an inpatient hospice and palliative care facility for terminally-ill patients whose acute symptoms can no longer be managed through hospice care at home and who do not wish to spend their final days in a hospital or nursing facility.
The Visiting Nurses of Aroostook will have administrative offices on site as well as being the operators of the facility. The renovations and additions to the building will go out to bid this month and will be accepted until mid-June. A decision will be made on a contractor in September with a groundbreaking soon after. The six-suite facility is expected to open in April or May of 2017.
