Mapleton plans mother/daughter weekend

There will be a Mother and Daughter Banquet at the Mapleton Methodist Church on Friday, May 13, 2016, at 6 p.m.
This will be a potluck dinner with rolls, desserts and beverages provided. The public is invited to attend. Entertainment will follow the dinner.
On the following day, Saturday, May 14, the Haystack Historical Society will host a Mother and Daughter Tea from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the museum.
All are welcome to come and enjoy snacks, refreshments and a demonstration. The cost is $5 per adult and children are admitted free. Call Alice Shepard at 769-6431 for reservations.
Memorial Day events
On Monday, May 30th, the Mapleton Lions Club will conduct the annual Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony.
The parade lineup will start at 1:30 p.m. on the Dudley Road and will step off promptly at 2 p.m., moving down Main Street from the Dudley Road to the Mapleton Elementary School.
Any organization, business or individual is invited to march in the parade. Please call the Mapleton Lions Club at 764-4916 to indicate that you plan to march.
Shortly after the parade ends, the remembrance ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial Monument in front of the elementary school. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony and honor those who served in our military and made the supreme sacrifice for our country.
Junk the Mortgage
The Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile and ATV Club will be accepting metal from homeowners as a fundraiser to help pay down the mortgage on the clubhouse.
Now is the time to clean up around your yard and get rid of any unwanted metals. Items will be accepted until Saturday, June 18.
Call Terry Hanlon at 762-3702 or Mickey Maynard at 764-1236 to make arrangements for dropping off items. No “white goods” can be accepted.
