Local bowlers take first in Eastern Maine tourney
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle Elks I was the winner of the Women’s Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament, which was held April 21-23, 2016 at Northern Lanes.
With a record of 16-0, PI Elks I prevailed. Woodland I was second, followed by PI Elks II and Northern Lanes I.
Mona Reiersen of PI Elks I had the high average of the tournament at 103.88. Her teammates on the champions were KimSue Leavitt (101.63), Carrie Levasseur (100), Vicki Delong (95) and Tai Ireland (90.94).
Three other local squads competed. Alice Caron, who had her team’s high average of 102.69, good for second overall behind Reiersen, was the leading bowler for PI Elks II. The team also included Tracie Morris, Lindsey Swanzey, Peggy Boucher and Marion Donahue.
Making up the Northern Lanes I roster were Michelle Post, Norma LaFrance, Tonya Simpson, Joann Nickerson and Sue Willett.
Northern Lanes II also competed and the team included Ruby LaFrance, Tina Lorenzo, Darlene Ouellette, Debbie Carney, Pat Good and April Curtis.
Other teams participating were Houlton Elks, Calais I, Calais II and Woodland II.
Reiersen and Caron were joined on the all-tournament team by Meredith Snowman of Woodland I (102.19), Carolyn Nicholas of Calais I (100.81), Leavitt and Levasseur.
Next year’s tourney will take place at Spednic Club in Baileyville.
