ATV Safety course
There will be an ATV Safety Training Program on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Island Falls VFW, sponsored by the Freewheelers Club, in Island Falls. For more information, contact Jason Derosier at 267-0014.
Trapping Safety program
Enroll Now in the Trapping Safety Training Program. The course begins May 11 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Hodgdon Fire Station.This program is sponsored by the Northern Maine Trappers Association. For more information, contact Rick Tidd at 538-6638.
Aroostook River Fun Run is Saturday
Registration for the eight-mile canoe and kayak race from Washburn to Presque Isle Saturday runs from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Racers will hit the water at 10 a.m., beginning at Thomas Brewer Park and finishing downstream at the PI Fish and Game Club.
Walkers, runners or mountain bike riders are also welcome to take part on the trail along the river if conditions allow.
A barbecue lunch will be provided after the race to all registered participants. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ashland Girl Scouts.
