LITTLETON, Maine — A local man is homeless after a fire destroyed his more than century-old farmhouse in Littleton Sunday afternoon.
Littleton fire Chief Dwight Cowperthwaite said Monday afternoon that an issue with an electric generator probably caused the fire at the home of Michael Dechaine at 507 Front Ridge Road.
“It was reported by a neighbor,” Cowperthwaite said. “It was fully engulfed when we got there, so there was little we could do but work to extinguish it the best we could.”
The chief said that firefighters from both Littleton and Monticello were on scene for more than three hours. Dechaine had no insurance.
