CHALOU, Alma M., 87, Oxbow Plantation, at Van Buren, February 26, 2016. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Oxbow Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Lajoie Funeral Home, Ashland.
OXBOW PLANTATION – Alma M. Chalou, 87, died peacefully Friday, February 26, 2016, at a Van Buren healthcare facility, with her son at her side. She was born May 11, 1928, in Oxbow, the daughter of the late Stephane and Phoebe Raymond.
Alma was a member of Masardis Pentecostal Church, Masardis. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Even the most simplest of dishes could be whipped into a culinary delight with Alma’s loving touch. She was also an avid vegetable gardener and canned her produce to share and donate around Oxbow, Masardis and Ashland.
Her kind-hearted soul will especially be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by three sons, Dana Chalou of Ashland, Wayne Chalou and his wife, Gigi of China, and Raymond Chalou and his wife, Debby of Ashford, CT; one daughter, Rosanna Cutter of Rockville, CT; a sister-in- law, Irene Whittaker; six grandchildren, Sherry, Diane, Peter, Cheryl, Lisa and John; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alma was predeceased by two sisters, Madline Dusto and Evelyn McDonald; and a brother, Fred Raymond.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Oxbow Cemetery, River Rd., Oxbow. At Alma’s request, there were no visiting hours.
