PVC raises funds for good causes

In the 2015-16 school year, the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) was comprised of 33 schools from six counties around the state. The outer perimeter of the conference spanned from the northernmost Fort Kent to Calais in the east, Deer Isle Stonington to the south, and Greenville at its farthest point west.

Each year the PVC achieves many successes in athletics. There are local, regional, and state trophies for athletic excellence on display in their respective trophy cases each year. A lesser known accomplishment is the amount of fund raising for the many worthy causes these schools and their athletic programs do on an annual basis.

The PVC announced that in this past school year the Conference has raised and donated over $36,876 to local, state and national charitable foundations and organizations. These foundations and organizations include: Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation, All In For Addie, American Cancer Society, Bangor Homeless Shelter, Betsy Wright Foundation, Pennies for Patients, Relay for Life, Sarah’s House, Spruce Run Women Care, Susan G. Komen, and countless local individuals.
