Not far behind is the only team to beat Southern Aroostook this season as Katahdin (6-2, 36.3903) is the No. 3 seed in the region. The Warriors and Cougars were scheduled to meet on the softball diamond Tuesday afternoon in Dyer Brook in a matchup of two of the best teams in the region.
Also in Class D, East Grand has been moving up the ranks as the Vikings (5-3, 14.2262) are now in seventh, while Hodgdon (3-6, 13.4524) is ninth. Both the Vikings and Hawks are securely in the playoff picture.
In Class C North, Houlton (7-1, 25.3906) remains in the third seed behind Bucksport (9-0, 40.5469) and Narraguagus (11-0, 37.4412).

Katahdin 13, Bangor Christian 1 — At Stacyville Saturday, in game one of a doubleheader, Courtney Stevens drove in three runs to lead Katahdin to the win over Bangor Christian. Georgia Landry and Molly Cunningham each added two RBIs for Katahdin.
Kaycee Cintron pitched a complete game for the Cougars.
For the Patriots (2-6), Ashleigh Collins had two singles and Jasmine Brown had an RBI.
Katahdin 16, Bangor Christian 0 — In game two of a doubleheader, Cintron and the Cougar defense shut out the Patriots. Kelsey Hamm had four hits and three RBIs to lead Katahdin to the win.
Sophie Vetter, Molly Cunningham and Bailee Moody-Kay had two RBIs apiece for the Cougars.
Bangor Christian was led by Sarah Curoili with two singles. Abby Cross, Ashleigh Collins and Jasmine Brown each recorded hits.
East Grand/GHCA 4, Machias 2 — At Machias Friday, Haleigh Shay struck out nine as she pitched the Vikings to victory. Kim Stoddard, Jennifer Crone and Sarah Stoddard all had RBI hits for the Vikings.
Woodland 9, Southern Aroostook 19 — At Dyer Brook Friday, Madison Cummings recorded a triple, two singles and seven RBI’s to pace the Warriors’ 14-hit attack en route to victory.
Taylor Libby added two doubles, two singles and six RBI’s. Marissa Boulier doubled, singled with a pair of RBI’s while Lily Leavitt had a double. Katie Stevens chipped in three singles for 7-1 SACS.
For Woodland (3-7), Sara Boies singled twice with two RBI’s and Sadie Smith singled and had three RBI’s.
Highview Christian 17, Hodgdon 13 — At Hodgdon Friday, Kelsea McDonald struck out six batters to lead Highview Christian Academy to victory over the Hawks. Cassidy Lessner homered and singled twice while Michaela Hill homered and had a single.
For Hodgdon, Jordyn McKissick had a home run and a single while Kendra Gresko, Tianna McEwen and Taylor Desrosiers each had two singles.
Washburn 0, East Grand/GHCA 5 — Playing in Houlton May 11, the Vikings cruised to the shutout victory behind the pitching of Shay. Individual statistics were not reported.
Katahdin 3, PVHS 5 — At Howland May 11, Malloree Workman rapped a triple and two singles to spearhead the Howlers to victory. Arianna McKinnon doubled and singled with an RBI for Penobscot Valley and Elizabeth McKinnon hit a triple and a single.
Sophia Vetter, Georgia Landry and Lindsay Drew hit singles for Katahdin of Stacyville.
Southern Aroostook 12, Fort Fairfield 4 — At Fort Fairfield May 11, Kate Slauenwhite bashed three hits and an RBI, while Taylor Libby added three hits and Maddie Cumming and Emily Bubar had two each for SACS. All three Warriors drove in two runs.
Inside the pitching circle, Kyle Vining struck out 11 Tigers.
Hunter St. Pierre paced Fort Fairfield with two singles and an RBI.
