DANFORTH, Maine — East Grand School has announced its honor parts for the Class of 2016. The valedictorian is Bethany Lindsey and salutatorian is Kimberly Stoddard.
She has studied at Region II for Automotive Refinishing and has competed two consecutive years at Skills USA, placing third this year in her field. Lindsey was on the yearbook committee, and played her second year of soccer as a captain. This spring, she played softball.
After four years on the Honor Roll, she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Lindsey plans to enter the workforce after graduation.
Kimberly Stoddard
Salutatorian
Stoddard, is the daughter of Joy and Lendin Stoddard Jr. of Danforth. Academics and athleticism has been very important to Kimberly during her high school career. During her years at East Grand, she has played Soccer four years, being named captain her sophomore, junior, and senior year.
She was named Most Valuable Player two years in a row. She was selected for the All Aroostook Soccer team, her last three years of high school. Softball is another sport at which she demonstrated her competitive nature and her leadership skills, being captain for her last three years.
In basketball, Stoddard was captain her junior and senior years, was chosen to play for the All Star Basketball team in Caribou, and was an instructor for summer basketball in 2015. She earned the Leadership Award her senior year. Academically, Kim has been on the honor roll since her eighth grade year. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and this year, she was elected President of the NHS.
Stoddard was a nominee for the Princeton Book Award her junior year, and this year has received the MPA Principal’s Award and the Phi Betta Kappa Award. She has participated in Student Council and has been her class President for five years.
At Region II, Stoddard has studied welding for two years. She challenged herself further by taking college classes online. In her spare time, Stoddard involves herself in her community. She participates in Community Clean Up Day, last year’s blood drive, the Good Shepherd Food Pantry and was was a part of the ‘Welded Art Project’ for Katahdin High School. She has been a part of the Soap Box Derby and the Antique Tractor Pulls.
She plans to study engineering at the University of Maine at Orono.
