CARIBOU, Maine — On May 3, 2016 Daughters of Isabella Holy Rosary Circle 638 gathered for a delicious potluck dinner/social at the parish center. Acting chancellor was Josephine St. Peter, who led the group in a blessing before the meal. The refreshment committee included: Michelle Raymond, Priscilla Foley, with help from Judy Dubois, Laura Hodshan and Heidi Bugler. Guests for the evening were: Judy Bougie, Laura Hodshan and Heidi Bugler.

Regent Mary Ellen Field called the meeting to order. She shared Mother’s Day wishes and incidentals, gave a spiritual reflection on mothers and thanked everyone for coming out and for reaching out to one another.

Elizabeth P. Beaulieu won the 50/50 raffle. Birthday girls in attendance were Priscilla Foley and Sharon Perreault. Each received a small gift and “Happy Birthday” was sung for all the Daughters celebrating May birthdays.

Acting Chancellor Josephine St. Peter led opening prayer and Regent Mary Ellen led the group in the Pledge to the Flag.

The roll call was taken by Recording Secretary Dolores Martin, and she read the minutes of April’s meeting, which were accepted as read.

Thank yous were read from Father Jean Paul LaBrie for the donation of $1,000 to the parish fuel fund, from the family of Doris Albert for prayers, cards and phone calls, and on behalf of Peg Winston for donations for Divine Mercy Sunday.

A request from Youth Ministry Director Corey Morin asked for donations to send 10 youth and two adults to the Steubenville East Conference in Lowell, Mass., July 15-17. The program cost $300 for each person; the circle voted to donate $300.

Past Vice Regent Gail Hjort said no layettes were given out last month. Madeline Guerrette and Judy Dubois were recognized for donating to the Layette Ministry this month.

Remember to call Past Regent Gail Hjort if you are in need of prayers for yourself or a loved one; the Daughters can help through the Prayer Line. Many have found great comfort in the power of prayer and some have witnessed miracles. This is open to anyone.

Cards of “thank you,” “thinking of you,” get well and sympathy were sent to the following: Omerine Cyr, Jeanne Beaulieu, Our Lady Circle in Lincoln on the loss of their member Maureen Wotton and to Maureen’s family in Lincoln, Maine. Cards will be sent this month to: Judy Dubois, Josephine St. Peter, Theresa Wunderlich, Priscilla Foley and Dolores D. Martin.

The Daughters were reminded about the 31 Club, where members recite the Rosary on the day of their birthdays once a month for our clergy, seminarians, religious groups and asking for prayer for more to enter the religious life.

The circle had no winners in the 40-Week Club; however, Janet Beckwith, from the Fort Fairfield circle, was a winner last month.

The regent thanked Scribe Bea Pirie for an outstanding job on promoting the activities of the Daughters within our community.

Unfinished business included Daughters’ life insurance concerns that were raised at the last meeting. Members were asked to directly contact headquarters with questions; contact Regent Mary Ellen for the address and phone number.

Acting Chancellor Josephine St. Peter led the circle in closing prayer.
