Nylander Museum re-opening Monday

The Nylander Museum is not dead, although it may be on life-support. It needs the help of the community.

The Board of Trustees have been busy planning, cleaning, organizing, and rearranging the museum for the grand reopening on Memorial Day after the parade. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the doors of the Nylander will be open to welcome you back to see the changes.

There will be displays that haven’t been seen in years, knowledgeable guides, and light refreshments. See Olof Nylander himself at work discovering the natural history of the area.

Small displays will also be shared during Thursdays on Sweden when you are also invited to join the newly reformed Friends of the Nylander and have an opportunity to sign up to volunteer.

The Nylander Museum will also be open on Sundays or Saturdays throughout the summer. Watch the reader board in front of the museum on South Main Street for details each week and updates in this newspaper.

Join us on June 27, 2016 in the Caribou City Council chambers at 6 p.m. and hear the short-term and long-term plans to keep this treasure open to the public.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I urge residents to get reacquainted with one of Caribou’s cultural and scientific assets, the Nylander Museum.
