From the Bunkers

HOULTON, Maine — It’s been a great week at the golf course. What an amazing transformation takes place when we get a little rain and heat. The grounds crew has groomed the greens and they should be rolling true this week.

Also completed this week are a couple of concrete projects. A slab was poured down behind the fourth green to allow the crew to wash off the equipment so that runoff does not affect the lake. Another pad was installed at the driving range to accommodate the new grass mats. New grass seed will be spread around the pad so please watch your step.

Finally, a pad at the rear of the barn for delivery of chemicals and fertilizer to be stored there.

The sign up sheet is up for the upcoming Memorial Scramble on Saturday, June 4, to remember those golfers who are no longer with us. It will be a nine hole tournament, so get your names in soon. Sunday afternoon we will have our first Welcome Scramble for the participants in the Golf for Life program. They will be paired with members for a nine hole social tournament. Afterwards refreshments will be served on the deck.

Men’s Twilight league will start the first Monday in June. Get your team entered. Ladies Twilight on Tuesday begins that week also. If you have time for a relaxing lunch with a beautiful view, come to the Lakeside, Wednesday through Sunday for a delicious menu.
