HOULTON — William W. Tardy, Sr. 89, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home at Highland Court surrounded by his family. He was born May 14, 1927 in Presque Isle, the son of William and Emily (Craven) Tardy.
William worked at Tingley’s Bakery for 20 years. After that he drove trailer truck until he retired at 62 and he loved to share his many experiences of being on the road. At the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, William was leader of the Boys Brigade and Sunday School Superintendent. He and his wife Doris also attended the Littleton Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. In retirement, William loved to go fishing with family and friends.
William is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris (Wotton) Tardy; his son, William Tardy and his wife Renate of London, England; his daughter, Nancy Grant of Mars Hill; eight grandchildren, Lynnette Ramsdell, Jason Grant, Douglas Mooers, Jennifer Whynot, Adam Grant, Nathan Tardy, Benjamin Tardy and Doris Tardy; nine great -grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Patty Mooers.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home, 11:00AM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 until the time of the service, 12 noon with William’s son William Tardy officiating. Interment will be in the Littleton Cemetery. A time of fellowship was held at the Littleton United Baptist Church following the interment.
