The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 150 calls for service from Tuesday, May 24 to Sunday, May 29.
Tuesday, May 24
– Cpl. Michaud conducted a traffic stop on the Washburn Rd in Presque Isle and from that charged the 50 female operator with OAS and arrested a 43-year-old Washburn man who was a passenger on an outstanding warrant.
– Cpl. Quint investigated a theft report where a purse and wallet were stolen from two vehicles at the same residence in New Limerick. After an investigation, it was determined that a juvenile residing about a half-mile from the victim’s residence, who is also on a conditional release with Juvenile Community Corrections, snuck out of his residence and while out stole the items. The juvenile admitted to stealing the items and showed Cpl. Quint where he dumped their ID’s, credit cards, and other non-cash items in some nearby woods. The juvenile was issued a summons for theft.
– Trooper Bell responded to a motor vehicle crash on the County Road in New Limerick at approximately midnight. The male driver and passenger failed to stop at a stop sign and slammed head-on into trees. Both occupants admitted to drinking a significant amount of alcohol prior to the crash. The driver was summonsed for OUI, and the 20 year-old passenger was summonsed for illegal possession of alcohol. Both were transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with significant injuries that were not considered life threatening.
– Trooper Luce arrested a St. Francis man for violating a protective order after he went to the victim’s residence, told her everything had been dropped and could do whatever he wanted. The woman asked him to leave and told him the protective order is still valid. The man said a few other things and then tried to go to the neighbor’s house, which is still a violation of the court order. The man eventually returned home and was arrested by Trooper. Luce without incident.
Thursday, May 26
– Trooper Sylvia and police dog Merry were called out to assist Caribou police in the search for a 69-year-old man with Alzheimer’s who wandered off two hours prior. As Trooper Sylvia was responding, the man was located.
– Trooper Pescitelli handled a harassment complaint in St. Francis reference a man out barbecuing and reported that his drunk neighbor was yelling obscenities at him. After considerable efforts over the next several days by Troopers Stoutamyer and Pescitelli the man was located in Limestone and given a trespass notice.
Friday, May 27
– Trooper Sylvia investigated a harassment complaint where a female reported her boyfriend was following her to her place of employment and wouldn’t stop and she just wanted to break up with him and end the relationship. Trooper Sylvia met with the male and gave him the break up news and warned him for harassment. The town was not specified.
-Trooper Sylvia was called to a criminal mischief complaint in Oakfield where a logging company had some tires slashed in the night. The owner has a suspect and has had similar incidents like this recently in Medway at his job sites. The case remains under investigation.
– Trooper Saucier responded to the Shin Pond Rd in Patten for a report of a bail violation related to a recent domestic where a male burned his wife’s clothes on his lawn. The female was receiving threatening messages reference to the pending divorce. Trooper Saucier met with the 43-year-old Patten man in Houlton and arrested him for the violation. The man was relayed to the Penobscot County Jail with the assistance of a relay from Troop E.
Saturday, May 28
– Troopers Casavant, Sylvia, Pescitelli and Sgt. Haines worked a traffic safety checkpoint on Route 1 in Monticello. Over 200 cars were checked with six warnings and two defects given.
– Trooper Saucier performed a DRE evaluation on a male subject for Houlton PD and the man was found to be under the influence of intoxicants and refused to submit to a urine test.
-Trooper Stoutamyer covered a personal injury accident on Rt. 161 in the town of Woodland where an 87-year-old Presque Isle man was traveling northbound, and apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and drifted of the road. The vehicle struck a utility pole and spun sideways in the ditch where it caught and rolled over and then came to rest on its wheels. The operator sustained minor injuries, and was belted at the time.
– Trooper Stoutamyer located a pickup truck in the town of Frenchville that was reported stolen out of Pelham, New Hampshire. The operator was the adult son of the owner who initially wanted the son arrested for taking the truck. Trooper Stoutamyer coordinated with Pelham, New Hampshire police, who was communicating with the family. Once the truck and their son were located the parents chose to just have the truck towed, and they will make arrangements to come pick the truck up.
– Trooper Sylvia arrested a 49-year-old Orient woman on an outstanding warrant. Trooper Sylvia was on patrol and saw the woman and then ran a check on her as she is typically on bail or with a warrant and discovered the warrant.
Sunday, May 29
– Trooper Luce conducted traffic enforcement in the area of St. Agatha after it was reported local youths were being rowdy after their senior prom. We have also had incidents lately of lawns being spun up in the area and damage done by vehicles. In the span of a few hours, Trooper Luce stopped 22 vehicles issuing 18 warnings and two summonses along with arresting an OUI.
– Trooper Levesque conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for having a cracked frame on the truck he was driving. The truck was rusted through and could not pass the state inspection standards. The driver was issued a criminal summons for Operating a Defective Motor Vehicle.
