Single-vehicle crash in PI sends woman to hospital
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The driver of a pick-up truck that crossed an embankment and crashed into a tree on Wednesday may have been experiencing a health problem, according to police.
Sometime before noon, a woman driving north on Parsons Road in Presque Isle crossed an intersection, went over an embankment and hit a large tree along an all-terrain vehicle trail, according to Cpl. Thomas Pearson of the Presque Isle Police Department.
The 50-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, appeared to have “an undetermined medical issue,” and no other vehicles were involved, Pearson said.
The engine of the red GMC truck was still running when public safety crews arrived, but the vehicle had significant body damage and had to be towed away, Pearson said.
The driver was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center and her condition was not known, Pearson said.
