 WASHBURN NEWS

The Washburn Senior class of 2016 will graduate Friday, June 3, at 7 p.m. This year the event will be streamed live over the internet for those who live away or cannot attend the graduation.

Friends and family can go to www.aroostookonline.com. Once there select the Video link, then Communities, and as the event gets closer, you will see Washburn listed under the Communities link.
Congratulations to all the graduating seniors.
Other senior events happening this week include, on Wednesday, June 1, senior recognition at 3 p.m. and Baccalaureate at 7 p.m.; and Friday, June 3, Last Chapel from 1-3 p.m.

Art Show

Washburn District Elementary School held its annual art show on May 26.
The halls of the schools were covered with the artwork of students from pre-kindergarten through grade 7. The art was widely varied with beautiful white pines, funny faces, hands and feet art, abstract line art and everything in between.
The students are very talented, thanks in part to wonderful art instructor Beth Walker, who puts on this great show every year.

Distracted driving

Judy Bouchard, founder of The Heather and Liam Connection, will be in Washburn on Wednesday, June 1, at the recreation center.
Bouchard’s daughter, Heather, who was in college and working with autistic children, was killed while being distracted as she was driving. Liam is an autistic child who held a special place in Heather’s life.
Bouchard started the connection to speak about the dangers of distracted driving and about autism awareness. She will give a presentation on distracted driving at the Rotary meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
