Washburn DI teams return from Knoxville
WASHBURN NEWS
The Washburn Destination Imagination team returned Monday, May 3, 2016 from the Global DI competition in Knoxville, Tenn., having learned a lot and met people from all over the world.
The teams placed in the top 50 in some of their competitions. They also had a chance for a little fun and went to the Sunsphere and Chocolate Shop in Knoxville. Team member Brooklyn Plumber celebrated her birthday while they were there.
Team members said they made some good friends and great memories, and brought back a better understanding of creative problem solving.
The teams would like to thank the community for all of their support and donations to help them attend the competition. They had a wonderful time and couldn’t have done it without our amazing community and surrounding towns.
Visiting Portage
The Washburn kindergarten students took a field trip to Portage Lake on Wednesday, June 1.
The students had been learning about the ocean, and since we are so far away from the ocean, they took a trip to a different body of water. They got to search for rocks and small shells, played limbo, hula hoops and Frisbee — and, of course, played in the sand.
They reported they had a fun day.
