Ashland District School names 2016 honor parts

ASHLAND, Maine Officials at Ashland District School recently announced the honor parts for the graduating Class of 2016.

The valedictorian and salutatorian addresses will be delivered by Jarrett J. Beaulier and Caitlin Paradis, respectively, while Whitney Page is the first honor essayist and Alexander Gillis is the second honor essayist.
Beaulier, the son of James Beaulier of Nashville Plt. and Susan Rodgers of Windham, will attend St. Joseph’s College to major in environmental science. He recently received the Principal’s Award, has been a member of the National Honor Society and was a four-year starter on the varsity soccer team. In that activity he received the Butch Shaw Sportsmanship Award, and was an All-Star on both the Aroostook County and Northern Maine teams.
He also serves as vice president of the NHS, has volunteered at the local food pantry, Special Olympics, Red Cross blood drives and the Can-Am Sled Dog Races. Beaulier received the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Excellence Award as a junior.
Paradis is the daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Paradis. She will attend Maine Maritime Academy, where she will major in marine biology. She is president of the National Honor Society and of the Student Council. She received the Butch Shaw Sportsmanship Award, was an All-State in soccer and was chosen for the Maine Coaches Underclass Softball Showcase Team as a junior. She has been a four-year starter on both the varsity soccer and softball teams.
Her volunteerism includes working on the Red Cross blood drives and serving at her church.
Page is the daughter of Jody and Wesley Page of Portage Lake. She will attend the University of Maine at Orono, where she will major in education with a concentration in English.
She is a member of the NHS and Future Farmers of America.
Gillis is the son of Michelle Beaulier of Nashville Plt. and Greg Gillis of Ashland. He will attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent and major in forestry.
He is a member of NHS and the Future Farmers of America, and has been a volunteer at the Can-Am races. His hobbies include trapping.
