To the editor:
We are concerned about the reports of the Evergreen Cemetery falling into disrepair. We have many relatives and they date back many years and wars.They are buried there. Our parents and sister share a family lot there.
My sister and I paid for perpetual care on their lot and did so when we paid off the deed. My grandparents are also buried there.
Disturbing reports come to us that headstones are falling over, graves aren’t well kept and, in fact, the cemetery was not mowed for Memorial Day until some poor soul did mow it on the very day.
We have also been told the City of Caribou does not maintain it nor care what is going on. We do not live in Caribou but have entrusted the management of the Evergreen Cemetery with money to care for the family lot.
