CARIBOU – Leo A. Martin, 85, passed away June 3, 2016 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou. He was born in Ashland, December 10, 1930, the son of the late Levi and Beatrice (Corriveau) Martin.

He was a 1949 graduate of Caribou High School and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Charlene Gagnon November 15, 1955. Leo was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW, the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion, the NRA, as well as several area snowmobile clubs. Mr. Martin was a self-employed farmer and potato grower, having farmed on the Albair Road in Caribou for over 30 years. He was also employed by Caribou Water Works for a number of years.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 60 years, Charlene, of Caribou, are two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Jean Martin of St. Agatha, Thomas Martin and fiancé Lisa Quist of Caribou, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Frank Caspo of NY, Tammy Jalbert and fiancé Larry Poulin of Wiscassett, and Robin and Marty Cooper of Caribou; his brothers and sisters, Al Martin and wife Nancy of CA, Thelma Brownstein of AZ, Rita Michaud, Gloria Smith and husband Ed all of FL, Lori Roy and husband Bert of CT, and Vergie Martin of Caribou, 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was predeceased by a son, Gaylen; brothers, Rudolph, Jerry, Robert, and Frank Martin; a sister, Cecile Martin; and a great-grandson, Ethan Batzo.
