What a beautiful weekend for golf we had. The course is in great shape and the few injured greens are healing quickly. The fertilizer shed has been taken down and will soon be cleaned up and groomed. All chemicals will now be stored down in the barn to protect the lake. The crew has installed the small wharf and the larger one will be put in this week.
We had a great turnout for the Memorial Scramble on Saturday. Many fond memories of past members were expressed. Winners were Greg Palmer, Dave Edgar, Jane and Jerry York, first place and Alex Donovan, Dylan Flewelling and Wyatt Harvey, second.
On Sunday we had our first Welcome Scramble with our new Golf for Life participants. They were paired with current members for a fun afternoon of golf. We received good reviews from all players. Snacks after were provided by the Lakeside restaurant. Winners were Tammy and Doug Griffin, Bill and Luann Dwyer tied with Marion Collins, Dr. Bob Shaw, John Fairfield and Dave Edgar.
This event was so successful that we will have another scramble on Friday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. This event is open to anyone interested in golf.
The Tournament Committee announced they will be starting an open scramble on Saturday morning. Just show up, $5 entry, and teams will be randomly drawn. Hope to see you there. Dave Grant and Bruce Nason announced that junior golf clinics will begin Monday, June 20, at 8:30 a.m. Please meet at the clubhouse to register if you have not already called the pro shop.
Finally a big Thank You to all members who have helped make the new GFL golfers feel welcome.
