CARIBOU, Maine — The Northern Maine Karting Association (NMKA) made its debut Friday at the Spud Speedway kart track. The newly-chartered club got its 10-race season started with almost all of the charter member race teams represented.
The goal of the group is to promote kart racing in northern Maine and western New Brunswick, with an emphasis on youth. NMKA set up a rules package similar to Thundering Valley Raceway in St. Albans. The Champ karts have a tire rule with sealed engines to reduce the cost to the teams.
