LITTLETON — The Meduxnekeag Ramblers Snowmobile Club in Littleton will host the first meeting of the Aroostook Retired Educators Association on Tuesday, June 28.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and a catered luncheon will be served at noon. The cost of the meal is $14. The program will include vocal selections sung by the very talented Chloe Wheeler, and the Stand Up for Students program will be introduced by John Kosinski.
The agenda for the business portion of the meeting will include the presentation of the group’s constitution and bylaws.
Once again AREA will continue to collect canned goods and nonperishable items to be distributed to local food pantries.
Members will also participate in this year’s annual “Day of Caring,” to be held in September. Each county affiliate plans a special project to benefit the students in that county, and this year AREA will continue its three-year project, “Bulging Backpack,” which involves filling a backpack with school supplies and donating it to an area school. One school from the northern region of Aroostook County will be the recipient of this year’s project.
Donations for both projects may be brought to the summer meetings.
Membership dues are $7, and all retired educators are encouraged to join. Members share valuable information, renew friendships and participate in community projects which are greatly appreciated.
