College visit
On April 13, 14 and 15 the juniors of Central Aroostook High School went on an annual three-day college tour. This event is made possible by the MELMAC Education Foundation and a grant written by the College Access Team headed up by school counselor Sadie Shaw, teachers Mindy Bell, Heather Bradbury and Alex Jardine, speech pathologist Terri Brewer and UMPI professor Leigh Belair.
This year, the students visited seven institutions of learning, including Husson University, Thomas College, Southern Maine Community College, University of New England, University of Southern Maine, Colby College and the University of Maine at Orono.
This is the third year of the grant cycle and the third college tour. This grant funds many college access activities for students in grades 7-12. The goal of the program is to educate more students on post-secondary options in order to help them reach their goals.
Central Aroostook students on the college tour trip included Clark Bradbury, Zachary Crouch, Kelsey Dominique, Chandler Garrison, Sarah Gerritsen, Logan Grass, Dayna McCrum, Halee Rusby, Erica Watson, Brandon Cushman, Emilee Durost, Jon Gebhart, Jadeyn Giberson, Noah Johnston, Cameron Mosher and Kole Stitham.
