OAKFIELD, Maine — An 18-year-old Presque Isle man suffered only minor injuries last Tuesday evening after his vehicle went off the road and rolled over on Interstate 95 in Oakfield.

According to Sgt. Josh Haines of the Maine State Police, Cody Kennedy was traveling north on I-95 at 8:20 p.m. June 7, 2016 in a 2003 Dodge Ram when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel.

Kennedy left the roadway and struck the guardrail, which in turn caused his truck to roll over into the median, where it eventually came to rest on its roof. The section of guardrail was destroyed.

Kennedy told investigating Trooper Tim Saucier that he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash because he had been stopped earlier in the day by a different state trooper who told him to fasten his seat belt. Kennedy reportedly credited the trooper who made him wear his seat belt for saving his life.

Kennedy suffered minor injuries in the crash and was evaluated at the scene by Houlton Ambulance.

Speed was not a factor, and no charges were filed.
