HODGDON — James R. Blackie 83, passed away June 8, 2016. He was born Sept. 25, 1932 in Hodgdon, the son of Dale and Willa (Stockford) Blackie.

Jim graduated from Hodgdon High School, Class of 1951. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1953 and served in the Korean War for three years. His first long term career was with HP Hood for 15 years where he made many friends throughout the county. His second career was with the Hodgdon School department as head of transportation for 25 years. Jim had many hobbies, he loved to golf and travel. He really enjoyed driving bus and cooking steaks at the family white water rafting business. All the grandkids and great grandkids kept him busy. In the last few years, he especially enjoyed his new mower and mowing the lawn. Jim always had a story to tell and if you listen close you might hear it twice.

Jim is survived by his wife Donalene (Bickford) Blackie; his children Tim Blackie and his wife Cindy, Pat Blackie and his wife Karen, Chris Blackie and his wife Crisanne, special daughter Amy Silliboy and her husband Rich and family, seven grandchildren Pat, Megan and Kelly Mc-Donough, Jonathan and Jacob Blackie, Alex and Teagan Blackie; four great grandchildren Damien and Layla Blackie, Ava and Liam Blackie; his brother Dale Blackie and his wife Althea; special niece Kathy Blanchette and her husband Tim; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his infant daughter and his brother Frank.

Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home Saturday, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12 with the Revs. Victor Han and Marilyn Rohdin officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Hodgdon Cemetery.
