Worcesters to direct hoop camp

WASHBURN, Maine — The annual Beaver Blitz Basketball Camp is being offered July 5-7, 2016.

The camp is co-directed by Larry and Mackenzie Worcester. Larry was a longtime boys’ basketball coach at Washburn District High School and prior to that starred at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and is a member of the Owls’ Athletic Hall of Fame. Mackenzie, his daughter, scored over 2,000 points during her four-year varsity career at Washburn, was on four state championship teams and just completed a standout freshman season at Husson University in Bangor.

The camp is being held at Washburn District Elementary School and is offered to students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Grades K-2 meet from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and grades 3-8 from 1:30-3 p.m. all three days.

The fee is $15 per player in the younger age group and $25 for the older age group. To obtain a registration form, email laworcester@gmail.com. Checks should be made payable to Beaver Basketball Camp and sent, along with registration information, to Kim Worcester, P.O. Box 550, Washburn, ME 04786. The deadline to register is June 22.
