Boys and Girls Club hosts gala July 11
PRESQUE ISLE — The Penobscot Boys and Girls Club will hold their 11th annual fundraising gala, “Christmas in July,” on Monday, July 11, at Spruce Haven, 214 Doyle Rd. in Caribou.
The Penobscot organization oversees The Presque Isle Boys and Girls Club, administered by the Aroostook Band of Micmacs. The local club will use the proceeds to expand services and programs for children in the Presque Isle, Mars Hill, Houlton, and Perry Boys and Girls Clubs.
WAGM-TV’s Shawn Cunningham will be the evening’s emcee, and guests will include Sen. Susan Collins and Carla Knapp, national service director of the Boys and Girls Club of America. Auctioneer Travis O. Hussey will lead a live and silent auction.
The black-tie event will feature fine dining, a string quartet and a toy drive. Admission is $75 per person or $50 with the donation of a gift for a child 0-12 years old.
The local club welcomes all participants. Since the 1990s, all Native clubs in Maine have provided a positive place for youth, both Native and non-Native.
The nonprofit Penobscot Boys and Girls Club acts as the umbrella organization for the rest of Maine’s clubs. Its mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
