 Delmar “D.J.” Murphy

SH DelmarMurphyOBPRESQUE ISLE — Delmar “D.J.” Murphy, 25, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2016, at his home following a life-long illness. He was born September 8, 1990 in Presque Isle, a son of Susan Andre and the late Frederick Murphy.

D.J. graduated from Presque Isle High School with the Class of 2009, where to many of his classmates he was known as a class clown, with mischief his specialty. Though born with muscular dystrophy, his illness never dampened his spirit, and his magnetic personality had way of making the outside world come to him. He loved animals, especially his late dog, Sophie. He enjoyed playing many video games, including World of Warcraft and Minecraft, chumming with his “brother” and best buddy, Daniel, or spending time outdoors on the shooting range with his brother and brother-in-law. He liked to tinker on small machines or make woodcraft and craft projects to share with his family and many friends. His smile and laugh will be heavily missed but cherished by those closest to him — his loving family.

He will be deeply missed by: his loving mother and step-father, Susan Andre and Paul Willette of Presque Isle; two siblings, Amy Mc-Lellan and her husband, Mike, of Castle Hill and Steve Murphy and his wife, Flossie, of Presque Isle; two nieces and a nephew, Ally, Harper & Maddox; and many special aunts, uncles and friends.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, 79 Fleetwood St., Presque Isle, with Pastor Larry Palmer officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday afternoon 2-4:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be private. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland. Donations in D.J.’s name may be offered to the family to assist in offsetting final expenses during such a difficult time. Please visit www.LajoieFuneralHome.com.
