ISLAND FALLS & ENGLEWOOD, FL — Priscilla J. Palmer, 89, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2015 with her devoted husband by her side She was born March 9, 1926, in Melrose, MA, the daughter of James Luther and Caroline (Wortman) Lowden.
She graduated from Melrose High School and Kathleen Dell Business School and worked in Boston prior to her marriage to Malcolm Palmer on June 15, 1946. She also worked in Houlton and Island Falls and retired from FmHA. Priscilla was a member of the Whittier Congregational Church, UCC, the Women’s Fellowship and the Pine Needle Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and in retirement playing cards with friends.
She is survived by her husband of 69 1/2 years, Malcolm; daughter, Nancy Kennedy of East Millinocket; son, Malcolm Jr. of Henderson, NV. “Nana Cilla” is also survived by her grandchildren, Greg, Betsy (Casey), James, Kathryn (C.J.), Andrew and Susan; great-grandchildren, Alexxa, Zane, Brendyn, Laura, Alena and Maxwell (whom she didn’t get to meet); sister, Rete Williams of Brunswick; sisters-in-laws, Janice Palmer of Houlton and Margaret Palmer of Manchester; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by son-in-law, Brian Kennedy and daughter-in-law, Carol Pride Palmer.
A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 at the Whittier Congregational Church, Island Falls with Rev. Lee Ann Betz officiating. Interment will be at the Island Falls Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be following the service at the church for family and friends.
