Magic show to open reading program

The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library is offering a summer reading program, “Reward for Reading,” for children in grades K-6. Children may check out and read a book or books of their choice and after completing the book, will receive a prize and have their name and the book(s) they have read posted in the library. While children are encouraged to read as many books as possible, only one prize per week will be rewarded.

To kick off the summer reading program, on Thursday, June 23, “The Magic Show — On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” will be performed by Greg McAdams and his dog Axel. The show, which is geared towards elementary school-age children, will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. as Greg and Axel have another performance scheduled for later the same day. Magic wands will be available for sale after the show for $5 each.
