CARIBOU and PRESQUE ISLE — Anita Helen Cote, 94, passed away, June 13, 2016 at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born August 27, 1921 in Caribou, the daughter of Joseph E. and Alma (Thibodeau) Cote.

She graduated from Caribou High School in 1938. She was employed in various office capacities in Caribou and Presque Isle until 1952 when she joined a missionary group where she spent 17 years during which she was assigned by her experiences to various posts in Massachusetts, Minnesota, Texas and Canada. While assigned in Massachusetts, she attended Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She was also on the staff of Richard Cardinal Cushing in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She also participated in many medical research projects in several hospitals in Boston. After that assignment she was released from the groups following which she was employed by John Hancock Insurance Co. for several years. Upon her retirement, she returned to her roots in Maine. She was a member of Senior Citizens Clubs in Presque Isle, Mars Hill and Mapleton.
Anita is survived by two nieces; Theresa Brown of Presque Isle and Wendy Gordon of Massachusetts, several friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by two sisters; Annalda Cote and Estelle Walker.
A graveside service was held June 16, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Caribou with The Very Rev. Jean Paul LaBrie, officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
