Outpatient clinics return to hospital

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine The Aroostook Medical Center has moved its Outpatient Specialty Clinics office back to the campus of A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital on Academy Street in Presque Isle.

For the past few years, the clinics had been located at the North Street Healthcare facility.
“This move is a positive change for patients,” explained Emily Lowell, manager of the clinics. “Our practice has really outgrown our previous location.
“Our move back to campus gives us more patient exam rooms as well as a larger waiting area for patients,” she said. “There is also the convenience of having lab and radiology services on site.”
The hospital has specialty clinics such as dermatology, endocrinology, nephrology, neurosurgery, pain management, podiatry and rheumatology. High demand in some areas, particularly dermatology and rheumatology, have recently led to the addition of new providers or the expansion of hours for existing ones. This meant the space at North Street was no longer sufficient to meet patient needs.
Back in the Presque Isle Medical Office Building on the hospital campus, the clinics share space with the Aroostook General and Vascular Surgery practice.
