HODGDON — Doris Muriel (Carson) Smith, 83, on Thursday, June 23, 2016 Doris entered her eternal home with the Father after a long battle with Parkinson’s. She is now happy, whole and at peace. Doris was born Feb. 26, 1933 in Littleton, the daughter of Lauris and Winnifred (Carr) Carson. The eldest of 3 sisters (Marjorie and Judy), she grew up a farmer’s daughter and graduated from Houlton High School. On Aug 21, 1952 she married the man she loved and cared for the rest of her life, Linwood Smith, of East Hodgdon. As a teenager she bowed the knee to God and was born again. She studied God’s Word together with Linwood at New Brunswick Bible Inst.

Over the years the Father placed in their care 4 children to nurture and give wings: Wayne, Connie, Evan and Lynette.

In Proverbs 31 of the Bible, Solomon speaks of the excellent wife in words which we, her husband and children, wish to use, to describe her life with us: She was far more precious than jewels. … She did us good, and not harm, all the days of her life.… She worked with willing hands…. She perceived that her merchandise (home-churned butter!) was profitable…. She reached out her hands to the needy (especially the elderly.… She looked well to the ways of wher household and did not eat the bread of idleness. Solomon wisely closed, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

We, her husband, children, grandchildren (15), and great grandchildren (6) do indeed rise up to praise her and call her blessed. Thank you, Sweetheart, Mum. We love and miss you for the moment, but are so glad that you are safely home with the Author of life. See you soon.
