SHERMAN STATION & ELLSWORTH — Jessie (Cameron) McAvoy, 92, passed away peacefully June 22, 2016 at Courtland Living Center in Ellsworth. She was born June 15, 1924 in Davidson, the daughter of William and Dora Cameron.
On Jan 18, 1942 she married the love of her life, Stephen E McAvoy Sr. in Bath. Together they raised 4 children.
Jessie is survived by her two daughters, Nora Gardiner of Portales, NM and Jill McDonald of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Maynard Jr., Margaret Pauly, James Gardiner , Cathy McDonald, Steve McAvoy III, Jesse McAvoy, Terri RaeTaylor, Erin McAvoy, Willie McAvoy; great -grandchildren, Jackie, Rebekka, Noah, Kelsey, Bella, Kendra, Brogan, Jacob and Nicholas; great-great-granchildren, Garrick and Colton; a sister, Lorraine Bouchard of Millinocket and special life long friend, Pat Guiggey. Jessie was reunited with her beloved Steve whom passed away in 2006; her sons, Stevie in 1993 and Fenton in 2007; son-in-law, Maynard Gardiner and grandson, Bob Pauly. Its going to be quite the reunion as that is where Mom has wanted to be for a long time. She was also predeceased by brothers, Billy, Jack, Lincoln and sister, Helen.
The family can not convey enough our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Courtland for the love, care and compassion that was given to Mom and to Jill. You are our family and we love you. Thanking you from the bottom of our hearts doesn’t seem like enough.
Jill would like to thank her many, many friends for all the love and support, especially to Jan Huebner for staying and visiting Mom when I couldn’t – I love you. She would also like to thank Nat, Jen, Carla, Lynn and many others, too many to name.
Friends called from 11 am – 1 p.m. on Monday, June 27th at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta where a Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. with Father Bruce Siket celebrant.
