Prescott to chair Maine Bankers Association
ROCKPORT — Jon J. Prescott of Katahdin Trust Company was elected as association chairman of the Maine Bankers Association for the upcoming year during the organization’s 123rd annual meeting at the Samoset Resort on June 9.
Jon J. Prescott joined Katahdin Trust Company in 1989 and in 1997 was named president and CEO and a director of Katahdin Trust Company and Katahdin Bankshares Corp. He is a director of Maine Mutual Group and Affiliates, Maine Bankers Association and Aroostook Partnership and is past chairman and treasurer of that organization.
He also serves as a corporator of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. Mr. Prescott’s past community and professional service includes the Bankers Health Trust Board of Trustees, America’s Community Bankers Council, American Bankers Association Membership Council, Independent Community Bankers Association of Maine, University of Maine at Presque Isle Board of Visitors, Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development and Southern Aroostook Development Corp.
Prescott received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine at Orono and he also attended the National Commercial Lending School and the Northern New England School of Banking.
Andrew Silsby, president and CEO of Kennebec Savings Bank, was elected vice chairman of the association.
Elected to the Executive Committee were: Paul Andersen, president, Androscoggin Bank; Curtis C. Simard, president, Bar Harbor Bank and Trust; Glenn L. Hutchinson, president, Bath Savings Institution; Daniel Thornton, president, People’s United Bank; Robert Quentin, president, Saco and Biddeford Savings Institution; Tony McKim, president, First National Bank; Robert Montgomery-Rice, president, Bangor Savings Bank; and Andrew Perry, president, First Federal Savings of Bath. Brad Paige, president, Kennebunk Savings, will serve on the committee as immediate past chairman.
