Easton Field Days offer something for everyone

On Thursday, July 7, 2016 there will be an Open House at the Little School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Station Road. Come and see the latest restoration projects!

Later the Francis Malcolm Science Center will have two Planetarium Shows (limited seating) at 7 and 8 p.m. The show title is “Back to the Moon for Good.” Visitors will experience the planetarium’s new, full-dome, digital projection system. The show revisits the moon 40 years after the historic Apollo landings and shows how a competition among international teams is ushering in a new era of lunar exploration.
Narrated by Tim Allen, “Back To The Moon For Good” presents the Google Lunar XPRIZE, and the personal stories of competition and collaboration it inspires. Free Admission. Due to limited seating, reservations are recommended. Call 488-5451 to reserve your seat today!

Friday, July 8

The Little School will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Station Road. The Kiwanis Barbecue
Is from 4—6:30 p.m. in the Elementary School Cafeteria . A Cribbage Tournament will begin at 7 p.m. at the Elementary School (6:45 registration). The cost is $2 to play — please bring board and cards.
The Little School History will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Little School on Station Road. Do you know how much it cost to build the Little School and who built it? How about who taught there from 1926 until it closed in 1969? Discover the answers to these questions and others during our presentation on the history of the little yellow schoolhouse on the Station Road. There will be lots of pictures, including a slideshow on the progress of the school’s restoration since it began in 2009. Free admission. Donations welcome.

Saturday, July 9

Saturday will kick off with a Community Breakfast Honoring our Veterans starting at 7 a.m. at United Baptist Church. Please plan to attend to socialize and eat with our local heros; donations for meal.
There will be a 5K Race/Walk starting at 8 a.m. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. at the elementary school playground. The cost is $15; proceeds go to EHS Girls Soccer Team. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
The Easton Field Days parade will start at 10 a.m. on Center Road from Perry Drive to the Wesleyan Church. Center Road closes at 9:45 a.m.!
Vendors, exhibits and amusements will be featured from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the school grounds/EES gym. Activities will Include: Bounce Houses, Face Painting, Ballooning, Clowns, Musical Entertainment w/ “Tim the Tune Man” and more!
The Little School will host an Open House/Ice-Cream Social from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Station Road.
Last year’s Cemetery Tour will be on the big screen from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Did you miss last year’s Cemetery Tour presentations? Want to see them again? A video of the Sesquicentennial presentations will be available for viewing in the Elementary School cafeteria. Hear the stories of several of Easton’s early settlers as told by the Class of 2015 in period dress. The video will automatically replay, so stop by whenever you want and stay as long as you like!
The 22nd annual Golf Tournament will be starting at 1 p.m. at West Ridge Golf Course. This is a 4-person scramble, $40/team. To register, call 429-9368.
Supreme Court Jesters will perform at 2 p.m. in the Easton High School gym. The Supreme Court Jesters are a family of jugglers and magicians who use these art forms to share biblical stories. They’ve performed in 17 states and six countries in venues ranging from circuses to prison chapels. Promises to be a fun show for all ages.
Concert and Classic Car Show will run from 3-6 p.m. at The Little School Community Park. Take a journey back to the 1950s and ‘60s with the Jerry T. & Sons Band and check out the classic cars.
The Community Barbecue will take place from 4-6 p.m. at The Little School Community Park.
Menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salad, soda and water. (Donations welcome). A dedication and 90th Birthday Celebration for Little School will take place at 5 p.m. including the sharing of 90th Anniversary Birthday Cake!
Heath Bartlett will be playing live from 7-10 p.m. at Easton Elementary School. Bring your lawn chairs or your dancing shoes; request your favorite song! Concessions will be available.
The Fireworks Display will start at 9:30 p.m. at the school grounds. Concessions will be available. (Rain date is Sunday, July 10).

Sunday, July 10

On Sunday The Little School will be open from 12-3 p.m. on Station Road. There will be a Hymn Sing beginning at 4 p.m. at Friends Church on Route 1A.
Co-ed Softball games will be played at 5 and 6 p.m. on the field near tennis courts.

Happy Days Club Update

The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club met for a potluck lunch on June 23 with nine members and one guest present. The next meeting will be a potluck lunch at 11:30am on Thursday, July 14 in the recreation room at the Manor. Seniors, please join them and bring a friend!

United Baptist Day Camp

Avenger Day Camp 2016 will be open to all children in grades 1-6. A fun time of singing, hearing Bible lessons, playing games, making crafts, outdoor activities, swimming refreshments and a lot more. Camp will take place July 18th to the 22nd from noon to 4 p.m. Registration forms are available at the Town Office and at the United Baptist Church. Archery Camp offered

Archery Camp will be offered by the Easton Recreation Department on July 11, 12 and 14 from 12:15-1:45 p.m. for grades 3-5 and from 1:45-3:15 p.m. for grades 6-8 in the Easton Elementary School gym.
The cost is $30. All equipment will be provided.
