Athletes advance to state track meet
The Maine Recreation and Parks Association Track and Field North Region Qualifier was held last Tuesday at Caribou High School.
Formerly known as the Hershey Track and Field Program, the meet included athletes from numerous Aroostook County communities vying for the chance to compete at the state meet in Bangor July 12.
The top four finishers in each event advanced to that meet, to be held at Cameron Stadium.
Due to thunderstorms in the afternoon, a few events (800-meter run, 200-meter dash and the 4×100 relay) were unable to be completed and were scheduled to be made up yesterday.
Results from the other events, which include the top four and their times or distances, are as follows:
Ages 7-8 girls
50-meter dash: first, Chloe Blackstone, Easton, 9.6 seconds; second, Lillian Freeman, Caribou, 9.64; third, Madison Thibault, Caribou, 10.08; and fourth, Kyla Soucy, Union 122, 10.63.
