PORTER, Hollis R., 83, Presque Isle, July 7, 2016. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Hollis R. Porter, 83, passed away Thursday evening, July 7, 2016, at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. He was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Masardis, the son of Avon and Alta (Robinson) Porter.
He worked as a Firefighter at the Presque Isle Fire Department for many years, retiring in 1987. He owned and operated Fire Extinguisher Services in Presque Isle. Hollis was a member of the Presque Isle Masonic Lodge, The Anah Temple Shrine, The Masonic Lodge and the Presque Isle Elks Club.
He is survived by a son, Stephen Porter and his wife, Sue; a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Henderson, all of Presque Isle; two sisters, Reta Gagnon of Portland, and Lila Price of Presque Isle; five grandchildren: Sam, Sarah, Christopher, Gabby and Brittany; six great-grandchildren: Aaron, Alyssa, Katelyn, Stephen, Mary and Brayden; his special friends, Betty Henderson and David Saucier.
He was predeceased by his wife, Janice (Henderson) Porter in 2005; a son, Samuel in 2003; a sister, Mona Thulin; and a brother, Lester Porter.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
