    TREASURE ISLAND, FL & FORT FAIRFIELD, ME – James H. Ashby II, 70, passed away at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, on July 5, 2016, following a brief illness. He was the first son of James and Catherine Osborne Ashby. American Flag Color
    James was a member of the Fort Fairfield class of 1963. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1963-1967 Sp4 stationed in Germany, briefly worked for General Telephone in Redondo Beach in 1964 and was called back into the Army until 1967. After the Army, he returned to California and was a Journeyman Ironworker Local 433 from 1970 to retiring in 2000. James was a member of the Green Ridge Cemetery Association, the Fort Fairfield Alumni Association and volunteered at Catholic Charities.     He is survived by his grandson, Derek Leland Ashby; daughter, Kacey Catherine; and her mother, Connie, all of Tacoma, WA; two sisters, Jane Pratt and her husband, John of Bakersfield, CA, and Anne Theriault and her husband, Rosaire of Fort Fairfield; a brother, Tom Ashby and his wife, Denise of Buxton, ME; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by treasured friends, Phil, Terri, Rachel, Jessie and Ian Roberts. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Loomis β€œTed” Ashby.
