Trailer hitch strikes driver’s windshield
MASARDIS, Maine — A woman driving through Masardis Tuesday escaped serious injury after a trailer hitch on the road was kicked up by a passing truck and flew through her windshield.
Danielle Lavway of Sinclair was driving her 2014 Toyota Corolla north on Route 11 in Masardis Tuesday afternoon when a trailer truck driving south rolled over and kicked up a trailer hitch.
This caused the hitch “to fly through the air and into the Toyota’s windshield,” said the Maine State Police in a media release.
Lavway, 48, was hit in the shoulder by the hitch, which left a large hole in the windshield. She refused an ambulance but went to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, according to the release.
The state police said the driver of the truck probably was unaware of the incident, and that it is still under investigation.
