Track qualifier in Caribou concludes
CARIBOU, Maine — A track and field meet that was suspended wrapped up a week later, solidifying the field of qualifiers for the MRPA Track and Field state meet.
The northern qualifier came to a close last Tuesday, July 5, 2016 after a thunderstorm cut short the meet which took place June 29. Most of the 800-meter run races, all of the 200s and relays, and a few softball throws and long jumps wrapped up last week at the Caribou High School track.
The state meet took place Tuesday, July 12, in Bangor, with the top four in all of the events earning a berth.
The top four in the events held July 5 were as follows:
11-12 year-old 800-meter run
Girls: first, Saffayia Durepo, Union 122, 3:11.11; second, Gabi Caron, Fort Fairfield, 3:30.31; third, Kallee Parent, Caribou, 3:32.51; and fourth, Jasmine Langley, Fort Fairfield, 3:38.96.
Boys: first, Alex Hassell, Madawaska, 3:10.32; second, Jude Shea, Caribou, 3:11.91; third, Mason St. Peter, Caribou, 3:13.26; and fourth, Ephraim Willey, Caribou, 3:27.6.
