HOULTON, Maine — The third week of Houlton’s Ultimate Summer League resumed July 5, 2016 after the holiday.
The league now has its sponsors in place and has unveiled the new names for teams.
The red team, captained by Lucas Anderson, is now called Team F.A .Peabody; the purple team, captained by Chris Rines, is now Team CPT; the yellow team, captained by Justin Fereshetian, is now Team WHOU; and the blue team, captained by Bradley Burlock, is now Team McDonald’s.
Last week’s match-ups were WHOU vs. McDonald’s, and CPT vs. FAPCO. The first game was a battle of skill as McDonald’s scored the first two goals, but WHOU answered quickly tying the match at 2-2.
Team McDonald’s, which is still low in members, has begun to find its connection on the field. The team came back with two more quick scores and with WHOU only scoring one extra point, kept the lead to end the first half, 6-3.
After a sizeable half to help replenish lost energy, WHOU came back running, scoring the first two goals of the second half. After both teams exchanged a few points, McDonald’s took a 7-6 lead when a “soft cap” was then called due to the time. In a soft cap, the first team to nine points wins. McDonald’s scored the last two consecutive points, coming up with their first win of the season ending the game at 9-6.
The second game, CPT vs FAPCO, was a fast-paced game. CPT got off to a two-point lead right off the bat. And as FAPCO was ready to answer with a point, CPT kept their lead by scoring 4 back-to-back goals to end the first half, 6-1.
FAPCO members were able to put up some great throws, but struggled to come down with a catch, or was intercepted by CPTs defense.
The second half would look the same. FAPCO continued making great efforts to come up with a goal, but unable to do so led to an almost shut-out game with CPT’s final score being 11 to FAPCO’s 1.
Next week’s games will be WHOU vs CPT, followed by FAPCO vs McDonald’s. Stay up to date with Ultimate in our community on our Facebook page, Ultimate Houlton.
