Brian’s Ride plans ‘Vendor Blender’

CARIBOU — Caribou’s first “Vendor Blender,” featuring craft and gift items, jewelry, homemade foods and more for sale, will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at the American Legion Hall in Caribou.

The event is being hosted by “Brian’s Ride,” with all proceeds to help local cancer patients receiving treatment at the Jefferson Cary Cancer Center at Cary Medical Center. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

Brian’s Ride was organized by family members and friends in memory of Brian Caldwell, a self-employed carpenter who passed away from cancer on May 22, 2014.

“Brian was a fun loving, hardworking man who loved family and enjoyed life,” the famly said. Caldwell was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on Sept. 6, 2013, and like so many in The County, he had no means to pay the high cost of cancer care. He was used to helping others, not being the one who needed help.

Supporters established Brian’s Ride in August 2015, knowing that, from the time of diagnosis, cancer is a journey. Throughout the journey, they said, individuals experience hills, valleys and winding roads. They hope make a difference in “the ride” and to help make the journey of cancer care more achievable for Jefferson Cary Cancer Center patients.

Local vendors participating in the blender will include: Anna Bella’s Primitive Signs, Cross Lake Quilters, Jamberry, Lula Roe, It Works with Josselyn, Norwex with Mandy Kilcollins, Noonday Collection, Pampered Chef with Sharon, Rada Cutlery, Salmon Brook Valley Maple Syrup, Scentsy, Tupperware, Vicky’s Jewelry Box, Wreaths by Natalie and Younique.
