HOULTON, Maine — The Annual Dinner of the Houlton Rotary Club took place on June 20 at the Shiretown dining area. The evening is one of award giving as citizens and Rotarians are recognized for their dedicated “service above self.”
One of the fun things about the evening are the surprised faces when awards are announced for unknowing recipients. Such was the case for Becky Day. She was listening to the description for the President’s Award and after a few sentences, she blushed as she realized that she was the one being described.
Another such experience occurred to Jerry Wilson. Wilson knew that he would be presenting the Paul Harris award to Rotarian Moose Carnes. He was confused to see his daughters and their spouses attending the dinner. He had no idea that he was a fellow recipient to the same award, the highest bestowed by Rotary, the Paul Harris Award.
Many other awards were given to well deserving causes. The evening, as always, was a good hearted and fun filled event.
