MADAWASKA LAKE, Maine — The Maine State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a driver who struck a child last week.
On Friday, July 15, 2016 at approximately 12 p.m. a 6-year-old boy was struck by what witnesses said was a white sedan, according to a statement released by police Tuesday.
The vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, was traveling west on the South Shore Road in Madawaska Lake Township Friday, when the boy ran out into the roadway and was struck.
Police do not believe there was any ill intent on the driver’s part, according to the statement, but need the driver’s information to complete the investigation.
Witnesses said the sedan was operated by an elderly female, who did stop to check on the little boy. The boy’s grandmother took him to the hospital for minor injuries where he was treated and released, according to police.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they may contact the Maine State Police Troop F at 207-532-5400 and ask for Tr. Travis Luce, the primary investigating officer.
