PERHAM, Maine — The town of Perham will hold a community-wide yard sale the weekend of July 29-31, 2016.
The three-day event was approved by the town’s Board of Selectmen to allow residents to join together to attract bargain hunters to the small rural community and to give residents a chance to clean out attics and garages, offering their treasures and gently used items to the public.
Debra Viola, who organized the three-day event and secured selectmen’s approval, said that because the town is so far from larger Aroostook communities, people rarely venture that far for a yard sale. Perham is located 10 miles west of Caribou and about 16 miles northwest of Presque Isle.
“This provides a reason for people to come out and check out what residents have to sell,” Viola said.
The sale’s hours are from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, and from 12 noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 31.
Signs will be placed around the town directing potential buyers to yard sales on the winding backroads, making it easier for both buyers and sellers to find treasures.
Anyone interested in holding a yard sale as part of the event must contact Viola for additional information and guidelines at 498-3433. Potential buyers can also contact Viola for details. Additional information and flyers will be available in the near future.
