FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The driver of an antique car crashed into a utility pole in Fort Fairfield on Friday and could face charges for speeding and reckless driving, according to police.
Norman Soucy, 54, of Woodland was driving a 1947 Dodge car out of the parking lot for Norm’s Used Autos at the intersection of Main and Presque Isle streets in Fort Fairfield when he crashed into a utility pole shortly before 1:45 p.m., Fort Fairfield police Chief Shawn Newell said.
Soucy was ejected from the car and suffered minor injuries, Newell said. Bystanders around the scene, at the edge of downtown Fort Fairfield, helped Soucy until the members of the Fort Fairfield police and fire departments and Crown Ambulance arrived.
Newell said “reckless driving and speed were contributing factors in the crash” and that related charges are pending.
