Serious injury can result from improper use of ATVs, but with preparation and practice, you can safely develop and expand your riding skills. Riding ATVs can be an enjoyable form of outdoor recreation when done properly.

Under the age of 18 years, all operators and passengers must wear a protective headgear, on or off one’s own property.
Operators ages 10-16 must complete a training program approved by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Visit www.state.me.us/ifw.
To operate under the age of 10, operators must be on land on which they are domiciled, or on land owned by a parent or guardian.
